The market has been running since 1999 and there are now more fresh produce stalls, more nice people and more tantalising ready prepared organic foods than before. If you haven't attended the markets yet, make sure you get there soon and join in!

The inaugural Rainbow Region Organic Market was held on December 1, 1999. The original announcement is still available for background reading if you are interested. The first market received an enthusiastic response. Growers were specially impressed by the number of people wanting to buy. Most of us involved in the organic field would have expected this, but was nevertheless very good to have confirmation of the strong local demand for organic produce.
In response one local grower went home after the first market and planted 30 varieties immediately! A number of others have been increasing their plantings more gradually. And over the years the market has grown steadily in reputation and in reality.
